With six offices worldwide and presence in over 20 countries, Building Energy (“BE”) was a leading global independent power producer (“IPP”) focused on renewable energy sources, supplying commercial and utility scale power plants. The strategic partnership between Building Energy and Three Hills reflects a shared vision of advancing renewable energy solutions in the pursuit of a greener, more sustainable future.

The company boasted an integrated business model that is based on the direct management of almost the entire value chain, including the development of greenfield and brownfield projects, EPC, Operations & Maintenance, IPP, and sale of assets.

BE has successfully executed projects on a global basis, with strong portfolios in the USA, South Africa and Europe. Notably, with Three Hills’ support, the business created the subsidiary Be Power, a leading provider of electric vehicle (“EV”) chargers which was sold to ENI (an Italian multinational energy company) in August 2021.

Three Hills fully exited the investment in Building Energy in Q1 2024, following the orderly liquidation of the commercial power plants’ side of the business (caused by several external shocks), which then refocused its activity on EV charging.
